Sweetly Sarris Hot Cocoa

Ingredients

- 4 cups whole or low fat milk
- ¾ cup sugar
- ½ cup Sarris Unsweetened Dutch Processed 22/24 Cocoa Powder
- 4 to 5 oz. Sarris 52% or 62% Dark Bloc Chocolate, finely chopped
- Marshmallows (optional)
- Whipped Cream (optional)
Bring milk to a simmer in a saucepan over medium heat. Mix 3/4 cup sugar, 1/2 cup cocoa powder and chopped chocolate in a bowl, then whisk into the milk. Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring, until the chocolate melts and the cocoa is thick, about 2 minutes. Divide among 4 mugs and garnish each with marshmallows and whipped cream if desired.

Variations

White Hot Cocoa
|
- 4 cups whole or low fat milk
- 7 to 8 oz. Sarris White Bloc Chocolate, finely chopped
- ½ tsp vanilla
Bring milk and chopped white chocolate to a boil, whisking to melt the chocolate. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.

Layered Mocha
|
- 4 to 5 oz. Sarris 52% or 62% Dark Bloc Chocolate, finely chopped
- ¼ cup water
- 8 TB Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 4 shots of prepared hot espresso
Microwave chopped chocolate and water on 50% power until melted, 2 minutes, stirring halfway through. Divide among 4 small mugs and top each with 2 tablespoons of condensed milk and a shot of hot espresso.

Banana Cream
|
- 3 cups milk
- 1 banana, chopped
- 2 TB sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 4 to 5 oz. Sarris Milk Bloc Chocolate, finely chopped
- 1 to 2 oz. Sarris 52% or 62% Dark Bloc Chocolate, finely chopped
Bring milk, chopped banana, sugar and cinnamon to a boil. Add both milk and dark chocolate and whisk until melted. Remove from heat. Let sit 1 minute and puree until smooth.
